MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chief Selvain McQueen will not give any promotions at this time because he feels the promotional process is not conducive to the improvement of the Department or the citizens of Columbus. He has cited the following as some of his reasons for his decision:
1. The City’s budget for 2010-2011 included no funding for promotions in the Police Department.
2. There was not a pass or fail on the promotional examination for the officers; therefore, officers who failed the test could have been promoted.
3. Officers who were the subject to disciplinary proceedings or guilty of other conduct unbecoming an officer were still eligible for promotion.
Chief McQueen wants to ensure that the promotional process is fair and equitable to all.
Chief McQueen says “no one person is greater than the organization, no organizations greater than the people it serves.” He further states “I will not short change the citizens of Columbus.”
Thanks

I would like to know what his testing history has been. He seems to be so against the systemthat has gotten him to the position that he is in now, so this all seems a little hypocritical on his part.

Did he forget that they changed the qualifications for chief, just so he would qualify? Where is his college degree???

How does the mayor’s “boy” sleep at night knowing what he has done to the rank and file with all of this? What a terrible double whammy, first “No Show” Johnson and now all of this.

he sleeps in the same room as the rest of his friends!!

There is no pass or fail, but some failed the test? No money in the budget? How many lame excuses. If some are not deserving of promotion is realistic that’s real life. How about the mayor does not want me to promote anyone….

Don’t forget to VOTE. The dumb a$$ people elected this crew. Now get out and tell people to vote and hope it’s not too late to turn this around. Some how we have to fix stupid.

What he should have said were the only people eligible for promotion are white and I dont want to promote white people!
February 19, 2012 at 10:36 pm
So, that would also say that the only people that St John selected for promotion was white. I guess he didn’t want to promote any black people. So, is that what you really want too say?

St. John says this is not true…no how…no way…I talked to him today and he ensured me that this was not true in anyway, shape or form. You have the right to your opinion, but this time it is wrong!

Not at all! You obviously dont have a clue! White people were the ones that scored highest on the promitional process! St. John did not create the process nor could he affect who scored what on it! Simple fact a lot of whites were at the top of that list! None of which now will be promoted. The process will be changed so it can change that. Watch and see!

I am not sure if this is about race…but, I think if McQueen had explained his rational better and not told people that he was going to promote off this list all of this would be moot. BTW, I do know the list pretty well and there would have been plenty of people of both races promoted.

Well the beauty of all of this is we will all see soon enough! I will stand by what I said and believe it whole heartedly!

Concerned: I believe you may be right. Too many white people on the list!! But according to black people the test may not be fair, so, we need to equalize and just promote those individuals “who may be qualified but can’t pass the test”. Never mind that they didn’t take the time to study, the test is bi est and doesn’t allow black people to “get ahead” in life!!!
